The acquisition of Blue Man Group considerably widens Cirque du Soleil’s audience pool, adding to their portfolio six resident productions established across the United States and Germany, as well as a North American and a World Tour. Two of the biggest names in live entertainment are coming together, as today Cirque du Soleil announced its purchase of Blue Man Group. On July 6, 2017, Cirque du Soleil announced the acquisition of New-York-based Blue Man Productions, best known for the award-winning Blue Man Group show. Blue Man Group, which has performed in over 20 countries and seen by more than 35 million people worldwide since 1991, currently has six resident productions established across the United States and Germany, as well as a North American and a World Tour, which will be added to Cirque du Soleil’s portfolio.

Blue Man Group currently operates a resident show at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, as well as in New York, Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Berlin, plus two touring productions. Cirque du Soleil already has 18 shows are being simultaneously presented around the world, including several in Las Vegas. La Nouba, the resident Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs in Florida, is closing at the end of 2017, with no announced replacement.

Amsterdam, zaterdag 4 maart 2017 – Cirque du Soleil staat met Varekai – ‘Tales of the Forest’ van donderdag 20 tot en met zondag 23 april in de Amsterdamse Ziggo Dome.

Het belooft wederom een magische show met kostuums, acrobatiek, stunts en live muziek. Op de top van een vulkaan, ergens diep in het bos is een indrukwekkende wereld. In dat Varakai is iets bijzonders mogelijk. Een jongen komt in dit magische bos terecht: een caleidoscopische wereld met fantasiewezens. Dat staat garant voor een buitengewoon en absurd avontuur. Volgens de makers is deze productie een eerbetoon aan de passie van de nomadische ziel en de kunst van de circustraditie.

New York, NY, June 23, 2016 The NFL, NFLPA and Cirque du Soleil, the world’s leading creator of spectacular live productions, today announced plans for an NFL attraction in Times Square, a first-of-its-kind attraction in the heart of New York City. Spanning 40,000 square feet, the four-story innovative exhibit, located on the corner of West 47th Street and 7th Avenue at 20 Times Square, is set to open Fall of 2017.

Located in the crossroads of the world, the NFL Times Square experience will be a must-see attraction for football fans in North America and around the world. The revolutionary exhibit will capture fans’ incredible passion for football through an engaging blend of high-tech displays, as well as immersive and interactive elements. Fans will have the opportunity to test their skills to see how they measure up to professional football players, learn game strategy, in addition to experiencing the adrenaline-pumping action of the NFL.

The attraction will include an approximately 350-seat theater. When fans step inside the theater, they will be surrounded by high-definition screens and state-of-the-art technology, and will be treated to an awe-inspiring multimedia experience. The 20-minute show, co-produced with NFL Films, will invite fans to immerse themselves in the NFL and experience what it feels like to be in the game, on the sidelines and behind the scenes.

In addition to the multimedia show and interactive activities, there will also be educational programming on the art of tackling and passing, on-site retail, stadium-style food and beverage offerings and special artifacts on display. Hall of Famers, current and retired players from around the League will be making appearances and participating in fan experiences.

The NFL Times Square experience will mark Cirque du Soleil’s first official experiential sports venture. World renowned for their live show productions, this new exhibit will showcase their extensive capabilities as creative content providers and continue to position them as an industry leader, bringing the NFL to life like never before through their creative vision and innovation.

Amsterdam – Cirque du Soleil komt terug naar Amsterdam met Varekai. Varekai van Cirque du Soleil staat van donderdag 20 t/m zondag 23 april in de Ziggo Dome. De voorverkoop voor Varekai start vrijdag 30 september om 10.00 uur via Ticketmaster. In het voorjaar van 2017 kan het publiek in Amsterdam weer versteld staan van de absolute wereldklasse van de artiesten van Cirque du Soleil: De kleurrijke kostuums, duizelingwekkende acrobatiek, indrukwekkende stunts en originele live muziek.

Over Varekai
Diep in een bos, op de top van een vulkaan, bestaat een bijzondere wereld – een wereld waar iets anders mogelijk is. Een wereld genaamd Varekai.

Het verhaal van Varekai begint wanneer een jongen in een magisch bos terecht komt: Een caleidoscopische wereld met fantasie wezens. Een absurd en buitengewoon avontuur begint. Een avontuur met onbegrensde mogelijkheden, herontdekkingen en de mysteries van de wereld en de geest.

Het woord Varekai betekent ‘waar dan ook’ in de Romeinse taal van de zigeuners -de ‘universal wanderers’. Varekai is geregisseerd door Dominic Champagne en de productie is een eerbetoon aan de oneindige passie van de nomadische ziel en de kunst van de circus traditie.

Europa-Park viert 80e geboortedag Elvis Presley met musical

Rust, maandag 5 januari 2015 – Op 8 januari 2015 zou Elvis Presley 80 zijn geworden, één van de meest beroemde artiesten van de afgelopen eeuw. Deze bijzondere verjaardag wordt in Europa-Park het hele seizoen 2015 gevierd: dagelijks wordt er in het Duitse pretpark een show opgevoerd met de allergrootste hits van ‘The King’.

Europa-Park viert in 2015 zijn 40e verjaardag. Elvis Presley zou – als hij nu nog geleefd had – deze week twee keer zo oud als het Duitse attractiepark zijn geworden. De 80e geboortedag van de legendarische zanger wordt in Europa-Park vanaf 1 mei gevierd met de dagelijkse Elvis Presley Rock’n’Roll Musical in het Globe Theatre van het park.

Grootste hits van Elvis
In de dertig minuten durende voorstelling komen de grootste hits en de hoogtepunten uit het leven van ‘The King’ voorbij. Elvis stierf in 1977 in Memphis. Zijn vrouw Priscilla bracht ooit een bezoek aan Europa-Park, samen met hun dochter Lisa-Marie. Ze waren allebei erg enthousiast over hun dagje uit in Rust.

De Elvis-musical is de opvolger van de ABBA-musicals ‘Waterloo’ en ‘Waterloo Reloaded’ die afgelopen jaren in het Engelse Globe Theatre te zien waren, respectievelijk in 2013 en 2014.

Barcelona (ACN) – Next summer (2015), the world famous entertainment troupe Cirque du Soleil will be coming once again to PortAventura resort in southern Catalonia, where they will remain until 2020. The five-year partnership deal was signed by the two companies, following the success of ´Koozo´; the show the troupe performed last summer at the Catalan theme park, which attracted an audience of over 100,000 people. The Canadian-based company, which is renowned for its spectacular shows that feature some of the best acrobatics in the world, has previously performed in cities such as London, New York and Paris, and its show next year will coincide with PortAventura’s 20th anniversary. The show on offer next year will be ´Amaluna´, a dazzling performance piece set on a mysterious island that combines a coming-of-age tale with a love story. The Catalan resort, one of the most popular family destinations in Europe, is situated on the Costa Daurada (Catalan for the Golden Coast) in Tarragona, southern Catalonia, about an hour from Barcelona. The development of the €4.5 billion BCN World holiday resort is also planned for the area, with the building of 6 macro-casinos, hotels, theatres, shopping areas, a conference centre, a stadium and research institutes. In addition, Ferrari will build its first theme park in Europe.

“Best family entertainment destination in Europe”
PortAventura became last year the first European resort to host a performance by Cirque du Soleil. The popular adventure park, which hosts the tallest rollercoaster in Europe, has long a favourite family destination. Commenting on the new multiannual agreement with the circus company, General Manager of Operations for the park, Fernando Aldecoa, said the alliance becomes “another step in our international strategy to position ourselves as the best family entertainment destination in Europe”.

Cirque du Soleil was equally happy with the agreement, Charles Décarie, one of the leaders of the Canadian company, said that “the Cirque du Soleil is pleased to sign a five-year agreement with PortAventura, which strengthens our presence in Spain and shows that both the local public as well as our Spanish fans are still key to the future of our company.”

‘Amaluna’: love and intrigue on a mysterious island
The debut show next year will be ´Amaluna´ a spectacular piece combing theatre, music and acrobatics, noted for its cast which is 70% female. Loosely inspired by Shakespeare´s ´The Tempest´ it is set on a mysterious island governed by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. It tells the story of the daughter of the queen Prospera, her ceremonious entry into adulthood, in a rite of homage to femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance, which marks the passage of these values from one generation to other.

Later, the outbreak of a storm caused by Prospera causes a group of young men to land on the island, an arrival that triggers an emotional and epic love story between the daughter and a courageous young suitor. But their love is put to the test and the young couple must face difficult trials and overcome adversity before achieving mutual trust, faith and harmony.
